Calvin P. Goodrich was born in Cayuga County, N.Y., in 1817, and resided there until twenty-one years of age, when he came West, locating in Quincy, Ill. Five years later he removed to Hazel Green, Wis., thence to Clayton County, in 1849. He purchased a farm on section 7, Jefferson Township, which consists of 200 acres of finely cultivated land, upon which he resides. He was engaged in mining a number of years. In 1872 he was appointed Justice of the Peace to fill the vacancy left by John B. Kriebs; was re-elected the following spring, and has held the office since that time. He was Assessor of the town of Jefferson a number of terms and has served on the Board of Supervisors. He married Delia Pine, a native of New York State. To them have been born five children— Julia, wife of John Luther; Emma, widow of M. Horsch; Anna E., now Mrs. Herman Schroeder; Frank, who resides on the homestead, and Laura, wife of Louis Schroeder.
