George W. Darrow

George W. Darrow, farmer, P.O. Elkport, was a son of Russell and Deliverance (Eaton) Darrow, natives of Cherry Valley, N.Y. where Russell died. The family afterward came to Ashtabula, Ohio, where Deliverance died. George W. was born in New York on March 3, 1815; he came to Iowa in 1864. In 1838 he married Ellen A., daughter of Andrew and Aurelia (Crandel) Stone, natives of Vermont. Ellen died in New York, and Andrew came to Iowa, where he died. By the above marriage there were thirteen children, of whom Alfred, Urilla, William, Wallace, and George W. (twins), Eliza, Ellen, Nancy, Sylvester, Charles, and Anna are living; Aurilla, Calista, and Amanda Laura are dead. Mrs. Ellen A. Darrow died Nov. 27, 1878, aged fifty-eight years, three months, ten days. Mr. Darrow is a member of the Dunkard church. He votes the Democratic ticket.
