Unidentified Subjects
Spencer, Iowa

Below are a group of ten photos submitted by Dave Miller. These photos were found in a photo album belonging to his great aunt, Rosa Wheeler. In 1887 Rosa came from Peoria, Illinois to Spencer. It is not known why she came to Spencer or for how long she stayed. One possibility is that she came to Spencer to attend the Spencer Preparatory Institute which began in 1866 with six students and had 150 students by 1888. The photos are of people from Spencer at the time. Dave would like help in identifying the people in the photos as well as locating anyone who had family that attended the Spencer Preparatory Institute or would know where the records for the Institute may be now.
