I’m thrilled to serve as an IAGenWeb
coordinator for Cherokee, Johnson & Linn Counties; and as a
PAGenWeb coordinator for Mercer County, PA. IAGenWeb Experience My time with IAGenWeb began in 2010. I’m grateful the leadership took a chance on me by approving my application to adopt my birth county…Cherokee. At that time I had only “desire” and a love for genealogy going for me. I had absolutely zero web and html experience. Today…fourteen years later, I’m coordinator for Cherokee, Linn and Johnson counties. I babysit two more Iowa counties….Lyon, and Poweshiek. I'm also managing a PAGenWeb site for Mercer County, PA. The IAGenWeb leadership roles I've had the honor of being elected to include Associate State Coordinator and State Coordinator. I also served as Welcome Hostess for several years. Just a few of my accomplishments during my time with IAGenWeb include the creation of: • the 1917 Spanish Flu Epidemic project for Johnson County. • the Early Day Johnson County African Americans project for Johnson County. • complete site renovations and • continuous creation and publication of new material along with ongoing maintenance of all of the counties I manage. Professional Background My forty year professional career ended when I retired from GE Capital Commercial Finance in 2015 as Operations Manager. During those forty years, I also had the opportunity to work for Northwestern Bell, AT&T and Aegon, USA. My career years provided me with operational management, project management, quality assurance and training and development expertise. Personal Life I love everything about my life. To mention just a few things…. I love my: • Son and daughter and their spouses and my four grandchildren, aged 9 – 12. • Home on twenty acres in rural Johnson County where I live with (and love) my dog, cats, chickens, horses, flower gardens and my awesome tractor. • Kitchen where I enjoy cooking huge holiday themed dinners for friends and family. • Genealogy and being a part of IAGenWeb For most of my life, I’ve raised and trained Appaloosa horses. Up until six years ago I drove thousands of miles hauling my horse to out of state trail rides where I then logged hundreds of miles of trail riding on horseback. I’m passionate about…wait…no…actually I’m crazy, insanely, obsessed with genealogy and have been for over thirty five years. I’ve written two family history books and am working on a third. I’m a member of both the Linn County Genealogical Society and the Iowa City Genealogy Society. In closing I’m proud to be a part of IAGenWeb. The leadership team has always been helpful and considerate. We are very fortunate to have our awesome technical team at our disposal. And how lucky we are to have the IGPP project! I appreciate the biannual reviews as they help us maintain high quality, meaningful and useful county sites. With all that we have going for us in IAGenWeb, it’s no wonder IAGenWeb is consistently rated as one of the leading free genealogy sites in the nation.
