line numbers to indicate the enumeration order.
Clarification of Names: As an aid to the users, the transcriber has
clarified some of the names in the "Transcriber's Remarks" column. Where
spelling of the last name is clarified, the source is generally Madison
County cemetery records. Where first names have been added to clarify
initials, the sources, in order of preference are; Federal census data,
Madison county records including cemetery, marriage and birth records, Roots
WorldConnect, and LDS data. Names are not clarified without a high degree of
confidence in their accuracy.
There was no distinction between the enumerator's capital I and capital J.
Where there was no way to differentitate, such as with an initial, capital
J was selected. The quality of the microfilm reproduction was fair to poor.
