AMBROSE PELLETT was born in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, on January 23, 1845. The family moved to Wisconsin in 1853 and to Cass County, where his father, Jason Pellett, purchased land in Brighton Township. Ambrose also bought land here in Brighton Township in 1869 and improved this land. He later sold this farm and purchased land in Pymosa Township. He was the first teacher in the Schoolhouse of District 1 in Brighton Township, on the Southwest quarter of Section 1. He married Ellen M. Chapman in January, 1867, and they had three sons - Elmer H., Frank C., and Clarence A.
