Clayton and Bonnie Thomas. Mr. Thomas states that "The district No. 1
schoolhouse, according to Irvin H. Hart’s History of Butler County,
Iowa, pp. 287-288, “was erected in district No. 1 on section 13, and
built of logs...” “This log schoolhouse stood near the site of the
present schoolhouse in said district No. 1. It was used for school
purposes until the summer of 1865, when a frame building, 22x30 feet,
