Sissel M. Loftsgaard
(Feb 4, 1846 – May 7, 1907)Mrs. Edwin Haraldson Loftsgaard, whose home was near Joice, died on May 8th of a general breakdown, her demise being manifestly hastened by the sudden death, February last, of her son, Teman, while a student at Waldorf College. The deceased was a most estimable Christian lady, a pioneer settler of Fertile Township. She was a sister of the late John J. Mark. Mrs. Loftsgaard was the mother of ten children, of whom six girls and two boys survive her. She labored for her loved ones, all of whom enjoyed rare advantages which were denied the pioneer parents. Three of her daughters, Misses Severine, Anna and Johanna, were students in Northwood High School and the last named a graduate from it. Severine, now Mrs. Klepper, came from her North Dakota home near the Canadian line to be present at the funeral. Miss Johanna came from Montana where she has been teaching and attending school. Deceased was a noble mother and died with her work well done. Source – Worth County Index, Northwood, Iowa, Thurs., May 16, 1907, p.4
