Jill Rachel Blessing Sioux City Jill Rachel Blessing, 57, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital with her mother holding her hand.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 at Mohr & Becker Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jill was born on April 26, 1967 in Sioux City, to Robert and Patty Blessing. She is survived by Robert and Patty, as well as her sisters: Staci Thompson (Chuck) and Stefani Blessing, both of Sioux City. Jill was a proud aunt to Kelsi of Denver, CO, Sean of North Sioux City, SD, Josi of Sioux City, and Lucy of Sioux City.

Jill graduated from South Sioux City High School and spent years living in various places before finally returning to Sioux City last year, much to both her excitement and that of her family members.

Most recently she was working in food service at Briar Cliff University. Jill always looked forward to going to work with the staff and students. They held a special place in her heart.

Jill found beauty in the simple things of life. She enjoyed classic 1980s Rock & Roll music, a good homecooked meal, composing her famous charcuterie boards (which consisted of olives, mushrooms, sardines, and cheese), and the holidays. She could watch the same movies time and time again and enjoyed them as much as the first time. She was an avid colorer with several coloring books collected over the years.

Jill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Casa de Paz staff, ICU staff at UnityPoint St. Luke’s, as well as the entire staff at the University of Iowa Hospital, for their genuine loving care of Jill.

Even amidst the health struggles, Jill always continued to put one foot in front of the other, staying positive, hoping to return both to home and also to her job.

She was an amazingly kind and selfless person and had the most generous heart. She is gone too soon and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Miss Jill, we know exactly where you are now.
