Olga Yolanda (Tavares) Sanchez died on Monday, October 14, 2019, at her home in Rake at the age of 71.

Olga Sanchez was born on July 5, 1948, in Piedras Negras, Mexico, to Manual and Virginia (Medrano) Tavares. The third oldest of eight children, she grew up in Piedras Negras and attended school there. In July of 1967, Olga married Rodolfo Sanchez in Piedras Negras, Mexico, before relocating to Texas that same year. Then they moved to Iowa in 1998. Olga enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and always stayed in touch with them no matter where they lived. Very kindhearted, Olga loved everyone.

Olga is survived by her husband, Rodolfo, of Rake; her children: Brenda Sanchez, of Buffalo Center; Robert (Eunice) Sanchez, of Dallas, Texas; Diana Sanchez, Juanita (Juan) Loredo, and Omar Sanchez, all of Rake; her grandchildren: Martin "Bebo" Flores, Jr.; Blanca Crystal, David Daniel, Oscar Leonard, and Rodymar Ricky Galvan; Angel Gutierrez, Rudy Guzman; Juanice Imme Loredo; Ashley (Terrance) Miles; Ramiro Tiverio Resendiz; Alex I, Amaya, Omar, Robert, Rodolfo, Lil' Rudy, Selena Marie, Titiana, and Yvette Sanchez; her great-grandchildren: Ariana Estrella and Kiana Fae Galvan; Gutierrez and Liana Gutierrez; Ivan Jae and Ruben Mateo Guzman; Blake Alexander Knight; and Tristian Miles, Luciano Sanchez; her sisters, Rosa Tavares and Luz Maria Moya; and her brother, Manuel Tavares; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manual and Virginia Tavares; her son, Rudy Sanchez, Jr.; her granddaughter, Yanick Rubi Peña; her sisters: Petra Jaramillo, Mariade Jesus Carasco, and Bertha Tavares; and brother, Pedro Tavares.
