Halligan, Wilda Irene Vice - 1918-2011

Wilda I. Halligan, 93, of Urbandale and formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Senior Suites of Urbandale after living an amazing life.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October, 28, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Carol Sundberg, Pastor of Walnut Hills United Methodist in Des Moines, officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. A visitation will be one hour prior starting at 10 a.m. at the church. The Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge is serving the family.
Wilda is survived by her children, Steven (Julie) of Sugarland, TX, Ronnie (Janyce) of Nisswa, MN, and Connie McKeen (Marlyn) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Christopher, Kathy, Dennis, Kenneth, Shawn, Stacy, Nicholas, and Alyssa; step-grandchildren, Nate and Amy; great-grandchildren, Kelli, Chloe, Katcher, Adley, Tyler, Zachary, Braydon and Bailey; step-great- grandchildren, Allison and Alexander; six brothers and one sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Glen and Gladys (Ramsey) Vice; husband, Francis and sisters, Darlene and Gladys.
Wilda Irene Vice was born June 18, 1918 in Shubert, NE.
She attended country school and graduated from Falls City High School in 1937. She then attended Business College at St. Joseph, MO. On May 7, 1944, Wilda was united in marriage to Francis Halligan in Lincoln, NE. They established their home in Fort Dodge after World War II. Most of Wilda's working years were spent as a secretary. She was an active member and volunteer of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed volunteering at Friendship Haven.
Wilda was never idle and particularly loved working in her flower garden and yard. But above all, she loved spending time with her family.
