Final Rites For Virginia B. Heyl
Virginia Bernice, daughter of Lora and William Bryan VanDorn was born February 8, 1922 near Seymour, Iowa and departed this life at the home of her parents, June 16, 1940, at the age of 18 years, 4 months and 8 days. Her mother passed away when she was but 8 years of age, leaving her, with her sister and brothers, in the father’s care. July 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Clell Heyl. To this union one son, George William, was born. She was a member of the Livingston Church. Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband, Clell Heyl, the infant son, George William Heyl, her father, William Bryan Van Dorn, sister, Pauline Hudson; 4 brothers, Neil, Robert, William and Lloyd Van Dorn; her grandparents, Douglas Van Dorn and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Mitchell, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lora Van Dorn, a brother, a sister, and one grandmother, Mrs. Douglas Van Dorn. During the few years Virginia spent upon this earth she won a wide circle of friends and all who knew her knew her for her kindness. She will be sadly missed by her husband, relatives and friends. A quartet composed of Bertha Wyckoff, Viola Perkins, Eva Harrison, and Imogene Martin sand “I Need Thee Every Hour,” “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” and “God Will Take Care of You” with Mrs. Staley at the piano. Pallbearers were: Doris Bowen, Henry Sparks, Floyd Ross, Russell Hutchinson, Homer Stroud, and Merle Stroud. Services were held at the Church of Christ in Cincinnati [Appanoose County, Iowa] June 18, 1940, at 2 o’clock with James McMorrow in charge. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
