Gibbs-Woodmansee
Last Saturday, June 1st, occurred the marriage of Capt. S. E. Gibbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Gibbs, and Miss Thelma Woodmansee, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Woodmansee, both of Corydon, at the home of the bride’s parents.
The ceremony was performed at high noon by Rev. Wm. R. Master, pastor of Promise City Christian Church, in the presence of the immediate relatives of the contracting parties. After the ceremony an elaborate three-course luncheon was served at the bride’s home, after which the happy couple departed on the 2:30 p.m. train for the future home at 402 E. White Street, Champaign, Illinois.
Miss Woodmansee was reared to womanhood near Leon and attended Leon High School, moving with her parents to Corydon a little over a year ago, and graduated from the Corydon High School with the Class of ’18. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and especially in the Corydon Christian Church, being an active member and a Sunday school teacher. She is in every way, fitted to grace the home of the man who has won her as his bride.
The groom was born and reared in Wayne County and graduated from Corydon High School in 1913; then entered Iowa State University from which he graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1917, and is now employed as instructor in Engines U. S. School of Military Aeronautics, an officer’s training ground school for pilots, at Champaign.
Their many friends of Leon and Corydon extend congratulation and best wishes.
