Off For the War
Three more men from this locality, who have become of age since June of last year went to Des Moines last week and enlisted for war services. The first to go was Boyd Leachman, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Leachman, of West Third Street, and a leading member of the Lineville band, went to Des Moines on Wed. and enlisted as a musician in the 339th Regimental band at Camp Dodge, was accepted and ordered to report there for duty last Monday morning. The other two were Charley Wasson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Y. B. Wasson, of Morgan township and Hubert Bryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bryan, of this township, who went to Des Moines last Friday morning in company with Postmaster, C. K. Coontz and enlisted in the navy and are now at the Great Lakes Training Station where they will get the necessary training to make them first class fighting men. They are all fine young men and their enlistment shows us once more that the American spirit is unconquerable-that our boys from the Middle West, from the East, from the South from the Far West-once they get across they cannot be held down-their spirit cannot be conquered-they will come back victorious.Lineville Tribune
