Dr. Jeremiah Brower b. 1801 New York City, died Jan. 12, 1875 Lineville, Wayne Co, Iowa. His parents were Jacob Brower and Abigail Manning, both of Clinton, Dutchess Co, NY. He grew up in New York City, then moved to Jackson Co, IN were he married Lucinda Day. They had 2 children, but Lucinda died early. Dr. Jeremiah Brower learned the medical profession while in Dearborn Co, IN under the instruction of Dr. Abraham Brower. He them moved to Schuyler Co, MO and re-married to Nancy Weaver Swindle b. 1815 Ashe Co NC. They married 11-12-1837 Shelby Co, MO. She had been living with her paternal uncle in Monroe Co MO. By 1854 Dr. Brower and family settled permanently in Lineville, Wayne Co IA. Besides being a Doctor, he had run for County Sheriff unsucesfully. His children were: Chancellor J.; Julia Ann; Elizabeth; Elias, Albert Grundy; William;Emily; Sarah; Amanda;Martha; Abigail;Jeremiah;Cynthia Ann. In 1882 Nancy Brower, the widow and her unmarried children moved to La Grande, Union Co, Oregon. This bio was written by Lilly Martin, 2012.
