Livezey, Viola Allgood - 1918-2011

Viola Allgood Livezey, daughter of Oscar and Georgia Douglas Allgood, was born on November 25, 1918 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She grew up near North English, where she attended country school and graduated from North English High School. Viola completed her education at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught at country schools as well as at Kinross and Wellman Elementary Schools. Viola married Roscoe Livezey in Des Moines on February 14, 1948. Viola worked for many years as a cashier at the Wellman Super Value Store. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed scrap booking, collecting Campbell's soup items, having coffee with friends, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Viola died on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale at the age of 92 years.
Viola is survived by a daughter, Donna Green of Urbandale, Iowa as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Inez, Stella, Oma, Mary, Naomi; and three brothers, Paul, Ivan, and James.
Memorial services will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rich Pippert officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Central Iowa and Mid-Prairie Foundation for scholarships. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
