William Harry "Bill" Hazelett, age 80, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Washington, with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Private family interment will be held at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa.

Bill was born May 23, 1938, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the son of Paul Fredrick and Myrna Carol (Sands) Hazelett. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1955.

Bill was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Brown on November 3, 1963, in Washington, Iowa. Through this marriage they were blessed with four sons.

Bill had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington since 1959. He was also a past member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Washington County Genealogy Society. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and was proud of his large collection of Depression Era Green Glass.

He is survived by his sons, Brian (Tracie) Hazelett, Brad Hazelett (fiancé, Dawn Roeder), Brent (Jennifer) Hazelett, and Greg (Kristin) Hazelett; seven grandchildren; brother, Paul (Sue) Hazelett; and sister, Myrna (Don) Tappan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters-in-law, Joan Hazelett and Jan Hazelett.
