Washington has a photographic studio that serves a territory covering not only Washington County, but Louisa, Henry, Jefferson, Johnson and Keokuk counties.

Both commercial and portrait photography are done by the Guther studio, whose proprietor, C. H. Guther, has been producing "better photographs" in Washington for eighteen years, all of those years in the same location, on the northwest corner of the square.

Wedding Pictures

Wedding pictures made by Mr. Guther are highly praised, and he has won an exceptionally good reputation for this kind of work. A large part of his work Is also devoted to baby pictures, school pictures of graduating classes and individuals, and all other types of personal photographs.

The Guther , studio has up-to-date equipment of the very best kind and is prepared to take care of all kinds of work in the photography line, including reproductions of old pictures, enlarging and coloring. Colored pictures made by the Guther studio are all hand colored and realistically done.

Better Photographs

Throughout his eighteen years of serving the large area his business includes, Mr. Guther’s slogan has been “Better Photographs”; a slogan that is always carried out in actual practice on every photograph made in the studio.

Mr. Guther has able assistance in the studio, and frequently, during rush seasons, such as in the Christmas and commencement seasons, Mrs. Guther helps with the work.

Photographs are always a popular gift at Christmas time, and commencement pictures are taken by Mr. Guther for graduating classes in practically all the surrounding counties, as well as Washington and Washington County.
