WELCH, JOHN E., farmer, East Washington, Sec. 32; P. O. Summerset; born in Columbiana Co., Ohio, Oct. 16, 1814, where he made his home till twenty-one years of age, when he learned the blacksmith trade, and went to Pittsburgh, where he worked for three years; then went to Jefferson county, Ohio, where he lived for one year, and then went back to his native county, and married Miss Catherine McLees, April 22, 1841, a native of that same county; they came to Iowa in 1852, and located where they now live, and own a farm of 192 acres; they have one son, Charles M.; have lost two, James and Russell.
