She was the mother of eight children; five are still living.She died at the family residence at 928 (AKA: MILL)Pershing Avenue. In WPA book her name was mispelled Dannigan.
Surname was spelled Lannigan in church records and on some of my g. grandmothers documents that I found. In Ireland it is only spelled "LANIGAN."
1900 Census has G. Grandma as imigrating to USA in 1859 but first daughter Sarah was born in New York 1857.

At the family home of 928 West Mill Street Sunday morning April 11, 1909 at 7:15 a.m.occured the death of MRS. MARY LANIGAN at the advance age of seventy six years. MRS. LANIGAN was one of the early settlers in this county and city, having resided here for the past fifty years. She is survived by four children, MRS. THOMAS WHALEN (SARAH); MISS JULIA LANIGAN; TIMOTHY and JAMES LANIGAN all of Ottumwa, Iowa. The funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m
at St. Mary's Church, requiem high mass will be sung by Rev. Father Hoppmann over the remains.
Interment will be made in the Calvary Cemetery.NOTE:(MARY ELLEN LANIGAN ) "West Mill Street changed to Pershing Avenue. It was also called Lincoln Street at one time and is now Gateway. This is my great grandmother MARY BURNS LANIGAN who was married to JOHN LANIGAN. Her father was TIMOTHY BURNS of Ireland. They had 8 children. Second child was Bridgett who died at Lockridge,in May of 1860. Jefferson CO IA, MARGARET,TIMOTHY,JULIA,SARAH and my grandfather JAMES ALOYSIOUS LANIGAN." The other 2 children I could not find. May have been born in Canada or New York.
