I know of a person named Henry Kuhns who married Mary Alice Campbell (who died ca. 1925 at a young age), the daughter of Mrs. Isabell Nancy "Belle" [Parks] Basford Campbell Higgins by her second husband Samuel Campbell. Mary's sister was my great-grandmother, Blanche Ann (Campbell) Stevens Van Cleave. This Henry was the Rev. Henry Kuhns so he must be a church minister but of what religion, I am not sure. Also, I think Mr. and Mrs. Kuhns moved away from Ottumwa to Wichita, Kansas or thereabouts and I think Mary Alice Kuhns is buried in a nearby cemetery called Kechi Cemetery. My great-great-grandmother, "Belle" Higgins, is also buried there as well, but she's originally from Jefferson County, Iowa (she's one of the grandchildren of Colonel William G. Coop from that county). Belle and Mary Alice did not live too long in Kansas anyway having spent most of their lives in Wapello and Jefferson Counties, Iowa.
In any case, I am not sure if Mary's husband the Rev. Henry Kuhns was any blood relation to your Henry Kuhns who died in 1896.
Henry outlived his wife so he would have died some years later after 1925.
