My gg grandfather is Edmund Uriah GATES.
According to my info, Edmund married Harriet SPONSLER, October 1, 1856. The couple had five children.
Harriet died in April 1884. Then about 2 years later in August 1886, Edmund married Mrs. Nancy (Richardson) HARE. Nancy had a daughter. Then Edmund and Nancy had one daughter in 1888.

It was his younger James Oliver GATES that married Lucinda MARTIN in May 1858. They had a daughter. Lucinda dies in 1868. About 2 years later James married Josephine WATSON in March 1871. James and Josephine had two children.
