Between the years 1954 and 1964, six new schools were built in Ottumwa. These were Lincoln in 1958, Pickwick in 1959, Sam Warren for the Handicaped in 1961 and Eisenhower, Sacred Heart and WALSH HIGH LATER>

In 1953 Walsh High School (Catholic Central) moved to the former Wormhoudt Home at 402 Chester until the new Walsh was completed. Walsh later became the Wapello County Museum.
