Do you have the adoption papers for your husband's grandfather? My grandfather was also adopted from the American Homefinders home in Ottumwa and it is still in operation. Call them up, and they will look up the adoption info for you. This was the only orphanage in Wapello County Iowa during this time period. They may be able to help you out. If you need anymore info, please contact me.
