OTTUMWA - Beverly Jean Garrett Hartley, 73, of 729 Boone Ave., died at 4:20 a.m., Feb. 24, 2005, at Hospice House, Ottumwa.

She was born April 20, 1931 in Ottumwa to Robert and Freda Ancell Pickrell. She married Robert E. Garrett March 14, 1948. He preceded her in death March 14, 1991. She married Jack Hartley Jan. 7,
1993.

A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, she had worked a total of 29 years at St. Joseph Hospital and Ottumwa Regional Health Center in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1994. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family enthusiastically. She loved the Blue Note music of her first husband's band, and also loved dancing, Christmas, and vacationing in Texas with her husband.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Rita (Jerry) Reed of Gardner, Kan. and Christine (Marty) Rounceville of Ottumwa; three sons, Stephen Garrett and Robert Lee Garrett both of Ottumwa and Dennis (Marcia) Garrett of Oroville, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Becky (Bob) Mayes and Kay (Jeff) Lloyd both of Ottumwa; three stepsons, Jim (Patty) Potter, Jack (Carla) Hartley Jr. and Rod (Renee) Hartley all of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Pickrell of Elkhart, Ind.; sister, Helen Spacek of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Precious, her dog.

She was preceded in death by sister, Genevieve Butler.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 2-4 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House, Ottumwa.
