Ottumwa Courier March 8, 1900
The wedding of Miss Grace McDonald and George J. Pickett, both of the city, occured last evening at 7:30 O'clock at the parsonage of Dr. F. E. Brush, pastor of the First M.E. church.
The wedding was a very quiet one, and in fact was a surprise to most of the friends of Mr. Pickett and his bride.
After the ceremony they proceeded at once to No. 604 West Second street where Mr. Pickett has previously furnished a cosy little cottage where they will be at home to their many friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. McDonald, of near Eldon. She has however, resided in Ottumwa the greater part of the time during the past five years, and has by the pleasant and kindly ways won the friendship and esteem off all who knew her.
The groom is an employe of the Courier as one of it's ad men. He was formerly a resident of Keosaqua but has been employed in Ottumwa for the past three years, and is recognized as one of the best mechanics in his chosen profession in the city. He is a young man of exemplary character and worthy of high esteem in which he is held by his former employes and many friends in Ottumwa.
