Sherman Z Ferris was the son of an early marriage of Joseph L. Ferris. I am not certain of Sherman's mother.......that is still one of my mysteries.........but I have placed Sherman Z Ferris with Joseph L. Ferris in 2 other census'. He may have moved out of Iowa by 1870 as he was married to Amanda Fair in 1868. I have placed him in the 1920 Census with Amanda in Tacoma, WA. He died in 1921 and Amanda died in 1936. This is information that I have taken directly from death records, census records, marriage records and an obituary. (All of the Ferris children you listed were Sherman's siblings or step siblings. Some were grown and gone by the 1870 Census. There were at least 18 in all. I have a great deal of information on this family. I would love to hear from anyone who may be searching some part of this family.
