Lewis Harding, one of the old settlers, passed away January 5, 1911. Lewis Harding, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Harding, was one of a family of 13. Born in Harrison County, Ohio, November 12, 1825. Married to Jane Totman, March 4, 1852. Came to Iowa in 1862. Parents of 8 children, 6 sons and 2 daughters. One daughter, Mrs Ida Kleinkopf, died about 25 years ago; one son Elihu, died during October 1897, and another son Lewis Jr, passed away Sept 8, 1910. 2 other children and the wife have proceded him in death, the latter dying July 15, 1906. 3 siblings remain living, Benjamin, Calvin and Sarah wife of David Ungst. remaining sons are Levi, Dell and Wig. 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. he was 85 years of age. Burial in the Highland Cemetery.
