Gill E. Miller
Gill E. Miller, 86, a resident of the Fort Madison Health Center, died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 1991 at the center. He had been in failing health several months.
Mr. Miller was born October 22, 1905 near Bonaparte in Van Buren County. He moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1938 and to Fort Madison in 1986. He retired on November 1, 1970 as manager of salary administration at H.J. Heinz Co. in Pittsburgh after 42 years of service with Heinz USA.
He was a deacon emeritus of the First Baptist Church of Bellvue, Pennsylvania where he held a number of church offices and administrative positions. He served for 21 years as president of the Board of Managers of the Baptist Homes of Western Pennsylvania. He was also a former member of the Board of Trustees of Alderson-Broaddus College of Philippi, West Virginia. He had attended Iowa Wesleyan College of Mt. Pleasant where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
On October 19, 1931 in Fort Madison, he married Katherine Louise Heberer, who died October 16, 1991.
Surviving are a brother, Herbert Miller, Indianola; a nephew, a niece and two grand-nieces.
His parents were John C. and Mary Pease Miller.
Services were held November 13 at the Barr Memorial Chapel with Reverends Hugh Alley and Greg Alexander officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the First Baptist and First Christian churches in Fort Madison. Contributions may be made at the funeral.
