Robert Kennedy

ELDON - Former Eldon resident, Robert L. Kennedy, 67, of Delavan, Wis., died Aug. 13, 1990, at his home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Pulaski to Martin and Hallie King Kennedy. He married Shirley Loomis on June 24, 1945, in Ottumwa.

A 1942 graduate of Eldon High School, he was president of Midwest Scale Co. in Rockford, Ill. He served as an aerial gunner on a B-17 in the U.S. Air Corps until being shot down on his 13th mission over Germany. He was a prisoner of war for 18 months.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Roger of Springfield, Ill., and Michael of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Linda Hirsch of Hartford, Wis., and Teresa Kennedy of Oconomowac, Wis.; three grandchildren; a brother, Martin Kennedy of Lexington, Ky.; and four sisters, Kathryn Johnson of Davenport, Mary Gilbert of Portland, Ore., Jean Greenfield of Ottumwa and Margaret Sapp of Hedrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.

The service was Aug. 15 at Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan. Military services and burial were held in Roselawn Memorial Gardens east of Delavan.
