Flora Hummell
Mrs. James (Flora) Hummell, 81, New London, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1986, at the Henry County Health Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1904, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of James Harvey and Sally Barnes Long. On March 24, 1920, in Mt. Pleasant, she married James Hummell.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Viola) Parkhurst, Edmonds, Wash.; four sons, Robert, Phoenix, Ariz.; Ronald, Hillsdale, Ill.; Richard, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Roy, Picayune, Miss.; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one daughter, Vesta Mae Parker, three infant children, one grandson, three sisters, Dorothy, Muriel and Clara, and four brothers, Harvey, Max, Roy and Ellis, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel in Forest Home Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Swigart, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
