James F. Kennedy
James Franklin Kennedy, the son of George William and Mary George Ford Kennedy, was born March 9, 1916 near Winchester, Mo. and passed away Saturday, December 22, 1990 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 74 years.
He married Emma A. Keller January 22, 1941 at Canton, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include five sons, James and his wife, Audrey, Elderidge, Iowa; Jack and his wife, Linda, of Keokuk, Iowa; George and his wife, Vonnie, of Cantril, Iowa; Kenneth and his wife, Mavadene, of Keosauqua, Iowa; and Randy and his wife, Dawn of Mt. Sterling, Iowa; one brother, George Kennedy of Keokuk; five sisters, Clara King, Lillian Schreck, Jessie Blaise and Lula Norman, all of Keokuk, Iowa; and Mrs. Laverne (Velma) Nichols of Kahoka; 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Karen, two sisters, Minnie Buschling and Tena Hunziker, and one brother, Bryan Kennedy.
James had lived and farmed south of Mt. Sterling, Iowa for 36 years. He and his wife had moved to Kahoka in June of 1986. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the Navy and was a member of the Herman Blum Post No. 192 of the American Legion. He was a great fan of baseball.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 26, 1990 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, Rev. Beryl Cragg officiating. Burial was at Christy Cemetery in rural Clark County, Mo. with military rites.
