John Workman Nelson

John Workman Nelson of Eugene, Oregon died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1990.

He was born August 28, 1907 in Birmingham, the son of Harriet and William Nelson. He attended the Birmingham School, also Parsons College. He was married to Dortha Coleman in1941. He served with the Marines.

He was an accountant and worked with the Amerada-Hess Corp. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Eugene.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mary Maudy of Eugene, one son, John T. of Bethel, Vt., five grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His service was held November 9, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church in Redding, Calif. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society.

He leaves many friends and relatives in this area.

John Workman Nelson

BIRMINGHAM - John Workman Nelson, 83, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Birmingham, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1990.

He was born Aug. 28, 1907, in Birmingham, the son of William and Harriet Nelson. He was married Aug. 6, 1941, in Hollywood, Calif. His wife, Dortha, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Mowdy of Eugene; a son, John T. of Bethel, Vt.; five grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was an accountant and worked with the Amerada-Hess Corporation. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Eugene.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Redding, Calif. Private committal was held in Eugene. Memorials have been established to First Presbyterian Church in Redding, First Congregational Church in Eugene, Sacred Heart Hospice program in Eugene, and the American Cancer Society.

Musgrove Family Mortuary, 1152 Olive St., Eugene, is in charge of arrangements.
