Samuel L. Creek b. Feb. 18, 1844. Samuel was my great great great grandfather. Military papers show he was born in Lancaster, Fairfield Co, Ohio. He joined the military at age 17 and served in the 3rd IA Cavalry Co.F - Captured in Florida,Mo. Released. Fought battles in Memphis, Little Rock, Tupelo, Indepence,Mo, Kirksville,Mo, and Selma, Al. He married Harriett Laughlin in 1867 (appears Harriett had a brother in Samuel's company). He lived in the Village Township and farmed just north of Douds,IA . His home was actually located (per 1895 land plat) on Douds Road (V64) just south of Mt. Moriah Cemetery. It was on the east side right where the road curves. It appears to be a corn field now. In 1906 he auctioned off his farm/property and moved to Fairfield Iowa where he lived the rest of this life. He was hit by a train in 1930 not far from his home and passed away.

6 children: Robert (Doc), Charles Edward, Marie, Laura, Lenona, and Alice.
