Afton Star Enterprise-September, 1905
The marriage of Miss Florence Wilson to Mr. Harry E. Berry, near Shannon City, Wednesday, September 20, 1905, at 5:30 p.m., Rev. Menoher, officiating. Miss Hilka Shull was maid of honor and Walter Berry best man, while Miss Della Brown acted as bride's maid and Arden Gummere as usher.
The bridal procession was heralded by the strains of the wedding march played by Arthur Scherer, little Loyce Conquest, acting as flower girl. This little maid of six summers, dressed all in white, carried a basket of white pansies which she scattered along the bridal pathway. The bride was bewitchingly pretty in a gown of white point de spirit over white silk. She carried a shower bouquet of white China astors and white marguerlies. The bride's attendaants wore cream colored gowns and carried bouquets of yellow dabllas. The color scheme of the house decorations was yellow, green and white.
A large number of dainty and elaborate presents were received, a number coming from Kansas where the bride won many friends during her residence there. The groom's present to the bride was a crescent of pearls, of extreme beauty.
The fair young bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Wilson. She was born and raised in the county and is loved by all who know her. Mr. Berry is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Berry and is well known in Afton where he formerly attended school. He is a young man of exemplary character and proved popularity.
The day following the ceremony a reception and wedding feast was given the happy pair, which was in keeping with the other events of the wedding.
The groom has a fine new home ready for his bride and they will go to housekeeping at once. They will be at home to their friends after October 11, 1905.
