Terri Enderes Garbutt: Her favorite color was pink, representing love and compassion, qualities she inspired from her birth June 7, 1972. Born Terri Janelle Enderes to Wanda and Larry Enderes in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she moved with her parents
to Tama in 1976, attending South Tama County schools through graduation in 1989. Terri excelled in education beginning with honors in high school. She received Advanced Spanish Language Certificate from Intercultural Language Center in Heredia, Costa Rica, in 1994. Terri graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rosemont College, Rosemont, Pa., in 1997, receiving a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish minor. She achieved her M.B.A. and made the Dean's List with a 3.8 GPA at LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pa., in 2006. Terri was a member of Psi Chi, National Honor Association in 1995, Delta Epsilon Sigma, National Scholastic Honor Society in 1996, and Kistler Honor Society, Rosemont College in 1997. Terri continued to build her professional development every year from 2008-2016.
Terri led a very interesting and active life. As a child she learned to play violin and piano. As a young adult, she enjoyed biking and roller blading in the Philadelphia area and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. Diet and exercise including Yoga were important to Terri. She lived a life of service beginning with her work for the Tama Public Library and as a 1994 volunteer, Habitat for Humanity in Philadelphia. She was a mentor, Rosemont College Alumni Community Service Initiative in 1999. Terri returned to Iowa in 2001 and served as Chair, Access Iowa Civic Committee River Run Project in Cedar Rapids. It was Terri's nature to be generous and to help friends and family. She helped a friend in Pennsylvania start her own business. Her home in Pennsylvania provided a safe haven for another friend while she worked through a divorce. Terri enjoyed being able to provide a room for a volunteer nurse who worked at CVIM once a week. She began her love for travel and adventure as a foreign exchange student to Ecuador when she was a junior in high school. She left Iowa and ISU during her sophomore year answering an ad for a nanny in Pennsylvania. She made lasting friends and relationships with people all over the world through these experiences. Terri traveled to 6 of the 7 continents, all except Antarctica.
Terri began her work experience with Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research, Bala Cynwyd, Pa., serving as assistant intake coordinator, human resources coordinator, finance coordination and fiscal manager 1997-2007. She also was marketing and accounting manager for Pink House, Jost Van Dyke, BVI 1999-2007. Terri became director of finance for MSFC, Philadelphia, Pa., in 2007 and continued as associate executive director of finance and administration 2009-2012. Terri was vice president and treasurer of Sound Systems, Inc., Paoli, Pa., 2012 and became president and CEO in 2015, selling the business in 2016. Terri joined Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), West Chester, Pa., as director of finance 2012, until her death Oct. 13, 2019.
Terri grieved the loss of her grandparents, Genivieve and Ivan Enderes and Lola and Orion Tomlinson; also saying goodbye to uncle, David Tomlinson Sr.; cousin, Angela Miele; uncle, John Enderes; and aunt, Brenda Baldwin.
Terri loved and missed each of them as her parents, Wanda and Larry Enderes; and brother, Jacob Enderes love and miss her.
Memories of Terri are shared by 13 aunts and uncles, 34 cousins, and a multitude of caring, devoted friends.
