Robert J. Biela, 82, of Tama, died on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at home, due to a short illness. Memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, in Tama with Pastoral Associate Tom Christoffer of St. Patrick's Catholic Church officiating. A Memorial Mass and interment will be at a future date in IL.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1922, in Fairmont, OH., the son of Jacob and Kathryn Lech Biela. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His first wife, Dorothy Biela, died in 1987. On June 24, 1988, he married Pauline Brecht Cory in Marshall, TX. He was employed by the Department of the U.S. Army as a material maintenance manager for radioactive waste disposal. Preceding him in death were his parent; his first wife, Dorothy; and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Biela of Tama; one daughter, Cathy (Bill) Tarczynski of Ingleside, ILL.; one granddaughter, Denise (Kevin) Kaminski; one sister, Celia Tokarz of Shadyside, OH.; three step-sons, Don Cory of Everett, WA., Chris (Linda) Cory of Golden Valley, AZ., and Matthew Cory of Marysville, WA.; one step-daughter, Rochelle (Gary) Cory Thompson of Plattsburg, MO.; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama was in charge of arrangements.
