I saw the query re. M'Michael Cemetery. and would like to comment and communicate with others who have ancesters buried in this location.
I was born and raised in Story Co. and left Iowa in 1963. A few years ago I got interested in Genealogy and have been tracing some of my ancesters. I found on a Story co.cemetery list the name of my G. G. G. grand mother. She was Lucy (LATIMER) SPENCER b.Lyme, CT. 1787. Her spouse was Isaac SPENCER b. Abt. 1790, CT. d. 1855, Delaware Co., OH. Lucy came to Story Co. sometime after Isaac's death with her daughter, Frances Elizabeth who had married Johan Eichelberger, later changed to Eagleburger. Their name shows up in the 1860 and 1870 censu's of Story Co. in Milford Twp. Lucy's name did not show in the 1860 or 1870 census. Her death is recorded in the 1880 morbidity report of the census as having died in January of 1880.
On a visit back to Iowa some time in the 1990's I found the record of burials in the M'Michael cemetery and located the cite and found it in a grove of trees, brush and trash next to what I had known as Petrerson's gravel pit. where as a younger teenager had fished and swam in the ponds of the pit.
There were a couple new grave markers that had been added but no older original markers were found. I would like to contact other descendents of the other persons buried in the cemetery an try to do something to clean up the area and put up some markers for this cemetary. I would be glad to communicate with anyone who would be interested in it. Although I now live in Florida I still get back to Iowa ocassionaly and still have realatives and old friends in Iowa.Robert L. Sanders
