TOM MIKKELSON FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY AT OLD HOME CHURCH

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon in the St. Paul Lutheran church in Clear Lake township for Thos. B. Mikkelson, whose death had occurred July 21 at San Diego, Calif.

Rev. O. C. Monson, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Hans Oppedal. The music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Quam and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fardal, who sang "Have Thine Own Way" and "Abide With Me." A vocal solo, "Behold the Host" was sung by Truman Quam.

The casket bearers were: Eugen, Gerhard, Arthur, Julian, Elmer H. and Elmer J. Fardal. Burial was on the Mikkelson lot in the St. Paul cemetery.

Obituary

Thomas B. Mikkelson, son of Rev. and Mrs. Baard Mikkelson, was born in Story county, Iowa, March 29, 1872. He grew to manhood in this vicinity.

On the 27th of September, 1892, he was united in marriage to Julia Hanson of Stavanger, Norway. To this union four children were born, of whom two died in infancy. His wife died in 1904.

He was later married to Victoria Magnus on May 1, 1920. To this union were born two daughters.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and two daughters, five step-children, and a son and daughter of his previous marriage.

At the time of his death on July 21, 1942, at San Diego, Calif., he was 70 years, 3 months and 2 days of age.

Mr. Mikkelson had a number of friends among the older residents in Story City, having worked as a clerk in the Cornelliusen store in the later 80's. In the 90's he managed a store in Slater. In recent years he has been connected with an auditing concern, with headquarters in Sioux City and Minneapolis, and he had visited here off and on down thru the years. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
