Linda: Sorry for the late response.
You have several general questions that involves volumes of Local history.

There are two books in particular that we have for sale through our society.

Since you are asking for Sioux Center history. I would suggest a book I personally transcribed from the 1941 50th Jubilee Edition of the Sioux Center news. It has history of Sioux Center from the 1870s on to 1941, is 253 pages packed with local history. It would answers most of your questions, also has an every name index. It sells for $28. plus postage and handling estimated at $7.
Also We have the book Siouxland a History of Sioux County IA by Nelson Nieuwenhuis, sells for $50 plus $10 postage. You can see these books better described right here on our page at www.iagenweb.org/sioux/GSCGS

Now for my brief attempt at answers to your questions... First of all, I don't think the early settlers so called displaced the Sioux Indians an in driving them out. It was mostly prairie grassland in this area and up for grabs (homesteading) by the government. It is mentioned that sometimes the early settlers would have bands of Indian families pass through the area hunting and gathering.
I see by the surnames you mentioned they came from various places in the Netherlands. Some came through the Pella Iowa area to NW Iowa, some came directly from Holland. The main reasons they came here was because of economic improvement and a better life for their families and well as religious freedom from 'State' churches etc.
Some communities had a 'leader' as with the original Pella colony as Rev. Scholte. The Sioux Center community really didn't have a specific leader but families that came from various places in the Netherlands. Some came directly from the Netherlands, some came first through other settlements as Alto Wisconsin area and Fillmore County MN.
You really should get the two books previously mentioned to get a good idea of how 'NW Iowa was So-Called Won'
