Last rites for Mrs. William (Alice) Hansen, 96, were held at St. Paul's Episcopal church, Durant Jan. 5 with the Rev. Peter Sickels officiating. Burial was in the Dixon cemetery. Pallbearers were Lorin Fox, Bill Paulsen, Delmar and George Frick, Marlan Schreck, William Trede and Wayne Lincoln.

Mrs. Hansen died at the Americana Nursing home, Davenport, Jan. 3.

The daughter of Herman and Anna Meier Vollstedt, she was born at Davenport Oct. 7, 1890. She taught school in Liberty township and Plainview from 1909 to 1912. She was married to William Hansen Oct. 6, 1913. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Scott county board of education for 6 years.

She was also a member of the Durant Women's club and held continuous membership in the Phythian Sisters since 1913 when she joined the Dixon Temple No. 247. She transferred her membership to Durant Temple No. 178 in 1964. During that time she held each office.

She is survived by 2 sons, Malvin, Omaha and Oliver, Durant; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Meyer, Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother, Harry Vollstedt, Clearwater, Fla. and 2 sisters, Edna Smith, Montrose, Calif. and Mabel (Mibs) Makeever, Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1952, a grandson, a great-granddaughter and a brother.
