Here is the obit of C.H. Johnston.April 9,1942 Sac City Sun, Sac City, Iowa
Funeral Services for C.H. Johnston At Methodist Church at 2 p.m.
Died Early Saturday Morning At Home in Wall Lake.Charles Harvey Johnston, son of Miers and Isabelle Johnston was born August 18,1873 in Worthinton, Nobles County, MN and died at Wall Lake, Iowa on April 4,1942 at the age of 68-7-16.
Soon after his birth the family moved to Iowa where he finished his schooling at Onawa, Iowa. He moved with his family to Odebolt, Iowa to Cook Ranch and then to Vail, Iowa. He married Annie Amelia Abbott at Vail, IOwa on June 11,1898. They moved to Texas where they went through the storm of 1900 at Galveston. After a year they came back to Iowa where 2 daughers, Thelma and Gladys were born. Then they moved to South Dakota where they lived for three year. A daughter Juanita and son Merle were born to them there. IN 1910 they moved back to Vail, Iowa where a daughter, Addie, was born and another daughter that died in early infancy. 19 years ago the family moved from Vail to Wall Lake. He was employed as a Watkins Salesman.
His wife died in 1925 and a daughter in early infancy and a daughter Allie in 1935.
Survivors include, his mother, Isabelle Skirving, his sister, Addie Hollingsworth, both of Pearland, TX, a brother, Wilbur Johnston of Renton, WA, three daughters, Thelma Overhue of Longview, WA, Juanita Herrig of Eugene, OR and Gladys Wright of Wall Lake, IOwa, and one son, Merle of Wall Lake. His also has 10 grandchildren, 2 nieces and one nephew.
