HI,
Aunt Jemima was actually Cora A. Johnson, she was born June 30,1886 in Mahaska, Illinois. She died November 1982. Her parents were Rachel Henry from Missouri and Robert Nelson from Tennessee. She was married to Robert J. Johnson who was 26 years older than she was. He was born in 1860 in WV to Anne Washington and Ceaser Strother (not sure of why he was Johnson). They had one child Carl J. (not sure what happened to him)
They came to Sac County as her husband worked for Mr. Loring's relation in Mahaska County and they told Mr. Loring about his hard work and Mr. Loring offered him a job, so they came to Sac City.
Cora worked at the library as a cleaning lady for many years. She did not drive and walked everywhere she went. She was a quiet person, but very loving in nature.
