TO MARY TRIPLETT,
I think the Never means that Frank Randolph Allen was never married, rather than being the madien name of a wife.
Following is an obituary found in a scrapbook of obituary clippings in the Mount Ayr, Iowa Public Library of clippings from the Mount Ayr Record-News. The dateline is October 2 and a handwritten note dates the clipping as October 4, 1916 (probably that issue of the Record-News)._______________
"Frank Randolph Allen, son of J.B. and Theresa M. Allen, born in Warren county, Illinois, December 19, 1860,aged 55 years, nine months and seven days. He moved with his parents to Iowa at the age of 20 and has lived with them until three or four years ago. He had suffered poor health for a number of years. Frank died on September 16 at 12:15 a.m. at the home of his sister, Mrs. Carrie Maxwell. He leaves his mother, two brothers, sister and many friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. P.C. Kenton at the Methodist church Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Interment in the Ellston cemetery."_______________
The 1900 Ringgold county, Iowa census shows Frank R., age 39, son and farmer, living in the household of James B. Allen, age 64, farmer and
wife Theresa M. Allen, age 63, in Union twp.
These are the only three names in this household.
