Obituary – Ferne Louise Gleason

Services for Ferne Louise Gleason, 64, of Des Moines, were held Wednesday, July 1, at Grandview Funeral Home with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gleason was born May 8, 1917, and died of bronchiectasis June 26, 1981. She moved to Des Moines in 1952 after living in Kellerton. She was a teacher in the Kellerton public school from 1938 to 1940, past president of Phillips Elementary PTA in Des Moines, past president of the Easton Place United Methodist Women’s Society, and a member of Easton Place United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, C.G. “Jerry” Gleason; two sons, Dr. Stephen Gleason of West Des Moines and Chris Gleason of Ankeny; a sister, Evelyn Sissel of Kellerton; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to Easton Place United Methodist Church.
