Betty Jean Fugate, 79, died September 3, 2009. She was born in Kellerton, Ia and had lived in rural Carlisle for over 50 years. Betty Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett in 1982. Her surviving family includes son Randy (Donna) Fugate of Des Moines; daughter Jeanette (Jack) Lewellin of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Jenny Fugate, Ryan Lewellin, Randon Fugate and Renee Lewellin; three great-grandchildren, Cory, Cooper, and Drake; brother Jack (Pat) Higday of Knoxville, TN; sister Linda Kay Higday of Clearfield, IA; and nephew, Dan Campbell of Runnells, IA, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Memorials will be donated to the Carlisle United Methodist Church.
