-At Rest-
Mrs. Eleanor D. LORIMOR was born in Mercer county, Pa., July 19, 1828. When but fourteen years of age, she made profession of her faith in Christ, and was received into the membership of the associate congregation of her home. For a number of years she was an efficient school teacher in her native county. She and Asher LORIMER were united in marriage December 6, 1883, living for each others' joy for over nineteen years. On Wednesday morning, February 25, 1903, she peacefully fell asleep in Jesus Christ, aged seventy-four years, seven months and six days.
She was a woman of strong christian character. With a mind well trained in the word of God and well posted in the progress and needs of Christ's kingdom, she was a tower of strength in every department of church work. As a Sabbath school teacher, always interesting, instructive and enthusiastic, her lesson thoroughly prepared, her heart as well as her brain absorbed therein. In the missionary society, always conversant with the theme for discussion and her soul alive to the great work. The cause of temperance found in her a staunch advocate, an intelligent worker; her hand and heart were in the work. The poor and suffering always found in her a ready sympathy and a helping hand. Her delight was to help them at whatever sacrifice. And especially did she delight to lead them to the Friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
She will be missed in the community, and especially missed in the United Presbyterian congregation, of which she was a most devoted and loyal member. But her aged husband will feel that he has sustained a loss irreparable, and only the grace of God will enable him to bear. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth; yea saith the Spirit; that they may rest from their labors and heir works do follow them."
The funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Dr. John WILLIAMSON, after which the remains will be interred in the Eugene cemetery.
