OBITUARY - Mrs. Ann N. GILES
Ann NELSON was born in Richland county, Ohio, Nov. 11, 1825, and departed this life at the home of her son, J.S. GILES, June 15, 1912, aged 86 years, 7 months and 4 days. While a child she moved with her parents to Shelby county, Ohio; from there to Memphis, Mo.; and then to Warren county, Ill. She was married to R.P. GILES March 28, 1848. To this union five children were born namely, J.S. of Tingley, W.R. of Columbus, Wis., Alma J. PARKS of Tingley, Rena M. MERRIAM of Parina, Idaho, and E.P. of Ft. Morgan, Colo. Of these children W.R. and Alma J. PARKS passed away before their mother. The family removed from Warren Co., Ill., to Ringgold Co., Iowa, in 1870. Her husband died Jan. 29, 1881. She joined the United Presbyterian church when 18 years of age, and has been a faithful member ever since being connected with the Shannon City congregation at the time of her death. The funeral services were held from the home of J.S. GILES Sabbath afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. C.A. POLLOCK, in the absence of her pastor, interment being made int he Eugene cemetery.
