INA PRISCILLA NAPIER
Ina Priscilla NAPIER, the daughter of Thomas W. and Olga (DEFENBAUGH) NAPIER, was born January 18, 1913. She was a lifelong Ringgold County, Iowa resident, growing up on a farm south of Mount Ayr with her brother Howard. Ina enjoyed helping her father Thomas with the cattle and showing them in area shows.
Ina graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1930, and obtained her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught at the Diagonal and Creston schools.
Ina served as vice-principal at Creston High School and as an instructor at Creston Junior College. Upon her retirement, she worked as a social worker at Mount Ayr's Clearview Nursing Home.
A member of many local, state, and national educational organizations, Ina served as a representative for these organizations many times. She was an active member of P.E.O. and the Daughters of the American Revolution where she pursued her interest in genealogy, working on the NAPIER family history and assisting others. She was a faithful member of the Mount Ayr Methodist Church. Ina was interested in antiques, proud of her family's antiques, and telling others about the family heirlooms. She enjoyed helping her friends, neighbors, and family. Ina enjoyed working in her yard and garden, sharing her flowers, fruit, and vegetables with neighbors and friends.
Ina died at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr on April 21, 2000. She was interred beside her mother, father, and brother at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
A memorial trust was established in Ina's honor, providing scholarships for graduating seniors of Mount Ayr Community High School.
