OBITUARY

Dorothy KEPLINGER PRATT was born December 21, 1917 at Blockton, Iowa to A. B. and Amy SIEMILLER KEPLINGER and moved to Heaven August 20, 2002 at the age of 84 years.

Dorothy joined siblings Harold, Ralph and Madelyn at their home in Blockton where the family owned a general store. When she was two they moved to a farm one mile north of Blockton. Later the family moved west of Maloy where Dorothy graduated high school.

On August 26, 1937 Dorothy married Glenn PRATT at the Baptist parsonage in Grant City [MO]. She and Glenn moved to Story City [IA] but soon moved back to Ringgold County where they spent the remainder of their lives. Children Marvin, Larry and Charlene completed their family.

Dorothy was an avid Democrat and often told the story of the 1932 presidential election when her parents hitched up a team and wagon to carry the neighbors to Redding to vote for Franklin ROOSEVELT. The only Republican allowed to ride was her father A. B. She enjoyed reading the paper and keeping up with world events to the very end of her life.

Dorothy accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and in June of 1998 helped establish the Lighthouse Christian Center [located west of Mount Ayr]. She was active in the fellowship until the end of her life and many hours were spent by Dorothy praying for the church kids and enjoying their activies. "Old Grandma," the name Ashlie coined, prayed for and always stayed involved not only in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also the kids in the home day-care, Wesley, Jordan, Leah, Logan, Clay, Laura, Amber, Ashley, Levi, Lew, and Tara were very special to her and brought her hours of joy.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, parents A. B. and Amy, brothers and sister, Harold, Ralph and Madelyn. Grandson Rob PRATT and two infant grandchildren also preceded her in death.

Left to celebrate Dorothy's life are her children and spouses, Marvin and Kay PRATT, Larry and Kay PRATT and Charlene and Tom GREENE. Granchildren and spouses include Randy PRATT, Rick and Amy PRATT, Terry and Sheryle PRATT, Tracy and Trey WEATHERILL, Tiffany and Paul ROONEY, Doug GREENE, David and Jody GREENE, Darla GREENE and Darin DOLECHECK, and Tracy and Brandy ANDERSON. She also found great joy in her great-grandchildren Jason and Jennifer PRATT, Bryan and Allison BABB, Emily PRATT, Tyler and Torrie PRATT, Brittany and Bradley WEATHERILL, Matt BECKER, Ashlie, Shelbie and Myles GREENE, and Alexa ANDERSON.

Funeral services were held at Lighthouse Christian Center of Mount Ayr on Friday, August 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug GREENE officiating. Music was provided by Doug GREENE, David GREENE, Darla GREENE, Terry PRATT, Tracy WEATHERILL, Mary TRULLINGER, and Margaret BICKERS. Casketbearers were Rick PRALL, Randy PRATT, David GREENE, Terry PRATT, Tracy ANDERSON, Darin DOLECHECK, and Matt BECKER. Honorary pallbearers were Amy PRATT, Sheryle PRATT, Tracy WEATHERILL, Jody GREENE, Darla GREENE, Tiffany ROONEY, and Randy ANDERSON.

Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
